Performance/Presentation Sessions & Workshops
Time limits/page limits are strict and will incur a penalty - please plan accordingly! We suggest timing your pieces to leave a buffer at the end to avoid any unexpected deductions.
Prop weapons are never allowed in Monologues, Duo Scenes or Musical Theatre solos. Small props are permitted, but discouraged.
Prop weapons are only allowed in One-Acts with strict adherence to our policies. Unsanctioned weapons = automatic disqualification.
Musical Theatre Solos: bring sheet music in your key (clearly marked in a 3-ring binder). A cappella is not permitted.
Ensure you obtain performance rights for all pieces you are bringing.
Workshops are first come, first served - plan ahead and arrive early.
Technical & Safety Requirements
Review the list of prohibited items (open flame, pyrotechnics, hazardous materials, etc.) and ensure you are compliant.
Scenery can be delivered the morning of your performance, and must be removed from the scene shop by the end of your performance day. Ensure you label all items with your school name and on-site contact.
Conduct, Logistics & Housekeeping
Harassment, discrimination, or retaliation are not tolerated; report issues to alicia@lenaea.org or a board/staff contact.
California Penal Code Section 171b states it is against the law to have guns or weapons in any state or local public building. This includes the Folsom Lake College campus.
Be a respectful audience member and keep phones silent during performances and workshops. If you are an audience member for any performance, you should not leave before the end of the performance unless in the case of an emergency.
Dressing rooms are shared, all-gender spaces. Single-stall restrooms available. Keep belongings secure — the festival/venue is not responsible for lost items.
Arrive early for your scheduled times; One-Acts must check in with the Technical Director before load-in.
Be flexible. Venue assignments, schedule changes, and room adjustments may occur. Check festival communications for the latest information.
Check your materials (scripts, props, sheet music, tech needs) before traveling.
Impromptu Performances. Folsom Lake College has strict policies allowing only scheduled events to take place. This includes performances of any kind and at any location on the campus
